I've always built model boats by installing electric components which seemed sensible, rather than measuring or carefully planning the components. I've now (belatedly) decided to measure what I've created, with a view to determining the actual power consumption and potential endurance.

Below are consumption figures for some of my models.

2 x car heater motors. Both engines Full Ahead - 1.5A.
Fireboat - Weight 3kg - 7.2v 3AH NiCad. 1 x Mtroniks Marine Viper 15.
1 x Robbe Power 400/45 ungeared. Engine Full Ahead - 4.0A.
Janus - Weight 5kg - 7.2v 3AH NiCad. 2 x Mtroniks Viper 15.
2 x Sun 540 ungeared. Both engines Full Ahead - 6.2A.
Samson - Weight 11kg - 12v 7.2AH Lead Acid. 2 x Electronize FR30HX.
